Inchicore
Framework Plan
Client:
Dublin City Council
The Inchicore Area lies no more than three
miles west of the city centre, on the historic route west
out of town. It has a definite identity as a village area
within the city environs.
The Framework Plan, commissioned by Dublin
City Council, as a follow-on to the Integrated Area Plan identified
a strategy for the village, based on an enhanced urban centre,
with a well connected network of public routes and spaces.
The plan also focuses on the Camac Valley as a green route
through the heart of the area and seeks to improve access,
through a combination of actions, including the delivery of
additional pedestrianised bridge crossing points and passive
surveillance onto the space.
The plan also sets out development briefs
and aspirations for a series of sites in either private or
public ownership, in an effort to minimise the recent negative
trends towards and social consequences of gated development.
